Whitney B. Fair was born in 1987. He was raised in the Southwestern Missouri town of Carthage by his parents who helped foster his creativity. Whitney always loved building and drawing endlessly. Carthage is a town rich with history and art; creations from throughout history were all around a young Whitney who was like a sponge, and absorbed everything he saw. He would go to the library every week and although he would look at typical children's books he would mainly be found in the part of the building with the art and history books. The family went on many vacations to historical spots with monuments and colorful imagery that exposed him to things different from his usual life that inspired ideas of creativity, and showed him that the world was more than small town Missouri and needed to be explored.
In high school Whitney started as an agriculture student then moved his focus to theatre and art, and was a strong student in almost all areas of study. He was an active member in his schools National FFA Chapter and Art Club being an officer in both for several years. He continued his travels in both organizations making school trips to such places as Dallas, TX, Washington D.C., and his dream trip New York City. He graduated from high school in 2005.
In the fall of 2005 he started college at Missouri Southern State University and moved to Joplin, Missouri. He quickly proved he was a strong student in the art department, and dove into the program; he was eager to learn all that was offered. He was a very active member of Art League; the art department's club for artists, becoming an officer, attending activities, and fundraising. Some highlights of Whitney's college career are "Technologies and the Globe;" a collaborative mural project, "Artists in times of War;" a collaborative installation, and during his freshman year he accomplished a fabric installation with the main part of the installation spanning the entire length of the Spiva Art Gallery. Whitney studied abroad twice while in college; he traveled to Paris, France and several locations in Scandinavia both times to study Art History and Photography. Additionally to traveling abroad he also traveled to New York City again. Whitney graduated from college in 2009 with academic honors and was the Outstanding Graduate for the art department that year.
After college Whitney worked on his art and showing independently. He also met his future husband Todd in the summer of 2009. The pair traveled to Atlanta, GA in 2010 where they discovered the High Museum of Art, and all that the city has to offer. With that trip the couple decided to move to the city, and begin a new life. The couple moved to Atlanta in 2011 where Whitney continues to make his art.
